A man was shot by police near the main entrance to Kingaroy Hospital on Friday evening<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

August 20, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 59-year-old Kingaroy man – shot by police during an incident at Kingaroy Hospital on August 9 – is facing four charges.<\/p>\n

The man, who was shot after allegedly threatening officers with a knife, is still undergoing treatment in hospital.<\/p>\n

He has been issued with a notice to appear in court on one count of going armed to cause fear and three counts of seriously assaulting police.<\/p>\n

He is due to face Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 18.<\/p>\n

Police were called to the hospital after reports of a disturbance at the facility.<\/p>\n

The man allegedly confronted them at the main entrance.<\/p>\n

Medical assistance was immediately provided to the man after he was wounded.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast Hospital in a critical but stable condition.<\/p>\n

No police officers were physically injured during the incident.<\/p>\n

All police shootings are investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, with investigations subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.<\/p>\n
