Wild Horse FM – the community radio station based in Yarraman – celebrated its 20th birthday recently by throwing a party for the whole town!<\/p>\n

Wild Horse organised the recent Yarraman Festival at Station Park to coincide with the arrival of more than 250 riders taking part in the annual Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Festival of Cycling.<\/p>\n

There were food trucks, 20 market stalls, free face painting and a petting zoo as well as music, courtesy of the radio station.<\/p>\n

Wild Horse FM treasurer Jane Hodgkinson said it had been a great day.<\/p>\n

Everyone who spent $5 at a stall was handed a ticket which then went in the draw for a raffle prize.<\/p>\n

“This gave us an idea of how many people were there. A lot of money was spent on the day!” Jane said.<\/p>\n

She praised the support that Wild Horse had received.<\/p>\n

“Bendigo Bank and Stanwell were the major sponsors but it was the small mum and dad businesses that made it happen,” Jane said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We were incredibly well-supported by the local business community.<\/p>\n

“It was a great collaborative effort with the Rail Trail.”<\/p>\n

Wild Horse chair Tania Paul said the event was not just about bringing people together for a day of fun.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It was incredible to see our community come alive, with residents and visitors alike sharing in the unique charm of our town. Our goal was to shine a light on Yarraman, supporting
\nour local businesses and showcasing the spirit that makes this town so special,” she said.<\/p>\n

The Festival of Cycling is organised by the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association which decided to move the finishing line back to Yarraman again this year.<\/p>\n

Riders had the choice of four distances: 161km starting in Wulkuraka, 75km from Toogoolawah, 50km from Moore or 20km in Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

Wild Horse FM has been involved during previous Yarraman Festivals but this year took on the task of organising the whole event.<\/p>\n

It went off so well that a date has already been fixed for next year’s festival: August 2, 2025.<\/p>\n
