Students from local high schools – as well as some interested older residents – explored the many career options available in the South Burnett on Thursday.<\/p>\n

TAFE’s Kingaroy campus hosted the 2024 South Burnett Careers Market, an annual event which aims to put local employers in touch with potential future employees.<\/p>\n

Students from Kingaroy and Nanango State High Schools, Proston P-10, St John’s Lutheran School and Silver Lining were invited to wander around the campus and check out the hands-on activities available.<\/p>\n

There were 53 stalls with information about everything from a career in the Defence Force to hairdressing.<\/p>\n

TAFE teachers were on-hand to explain what each course entailed.<\/p>\n

Major local employers included\u00a0 Swickers Bacon Factory, Stanwell, BUMA, Darling Downs Health, the South Burnett Regional Council, Queensland Police, Queensland Fire Department and the Queensland Ambulance Service.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There were also representatives from tertiary education providers, including the University of Southern Queensland and the University of Queensland, and many employment services.<\/p>\n

Students could also find out about\u00a0 Fee-Free TAFE courses<\/a><\/strong> which are available in high-priority employment areas such as health, business and information technology.<\/p>\n

CROW-FM was broadcasting live from the event and Bunnings provided a free sausage sizzle.<\/p>\n
