Seventy-five cyclists took part last Saturday in “Taste The Trail” … an annual event which aims to combine healthy exercise with good food and an adventure along the South Burnett Rail Trail.<\/p>\n

The 30km “Taste The Trail” trek included stops at Memerambi, Wooroolin and Tingoora before finishing at Wondai.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participants had the opportunity to taste-test various types of South Burnett produce along the way.<\/p>\n

The riders and their volunteer support crew left O’Neill Square in Kingaroy at 8:30am after enjoying a coffee to warm themselves up on a frosty morning.<\/p>\n

At Memerambi, they were tempted with items offered by Plenty Foods and Crumptons peanuts.<\/p>\n

At Wooroolin, volunteers from the local QCWA offered scones, jam and cream.<\/p>\n

There was also honey from Yanjala Farms, items from Daisy Poppets Farm Shop and tasty lamb sausage samples from Beauvale Australian Whites to enjoy as well.<\/p>\n

Then at Tingoora, Fiery Fish Farm and Bunya Red Farm capers offered some more tempting treats.<\/p>\n

The riders were greeted by a mini-market when they rolled into Wondai, with all the previous producers being joined on site by Clovely Estate Wines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The group then moved across to the recently renovated Wondai Hotel to enjoy lunch and raffle prizes.<\/p>\n

Taste The Trail has been running in the South Burnett since 2019, but this is the first year it has been organised by the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association (SBRTUA).<\/strong><\/p>\n

SBRTUA secretary Jason Wyeth said he believed the revamped program had worked well, with both the riders and food producers seeming happy.<\/p>\n

He said it had been a leisurely ride on a lovely day, mostly downhill and with a “nice little tailwind”.<\/p>\n

The group worked to keep the cost down this year, with a reduced ticket price which also included lunch at the hotel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jason said tickets for the event had sold out quickly.<\/p>\n

After lunch, many of the riders caught a lift back to Kingaroy with Out There Cycling but a few keen cyclists hit the trail again for the 30km return ride.<\/p>\n
