Happy with the win … the Burnett Brahmans downed Qld Outback 34-12 in an exciting 47th Battalion Plate Final<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Burnett Brahmans were celebrating after their efforts in the 47th Battalion rugby league carnival were rewarded at the weekend … but all the South Burnett should be happy with the results. .<\/p>\n

Accommodation was at a premium in Kingaroy with so many players, support crews and family members hitting town for two big days.<\/p>\n

And we’re sure the pubs would also have done a roaring trade on Friday and Saturday nights!<\/p>\n

A small team of hard-working volunteers prepared meals for the visitors across the weekend as well as keeping everything running smoothly in the canteen and around the grounds.<\/p>\n

The Brahmans – made up of players from the South and Central Burnett – didn’t take out the top trophy in the men’s competition but did the next best thing, winning the Plate Final for the second year running by downing Qld Outback 34-12.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last year, the Brahmans defeated Central Highlands 22-18 in Emerald.<\/p>\n

The men’s Trophy Final was between two seasoned 47th Battalion clubs: the Toowoomba Clydesdales, who won last year’s event, and the Sunshine Coast Falcons.<\/p>\n

Between them, these two clubs have won eight of the last 10 carnivals.<\/p>\n

The two clubs also fought out the women’s Trophy Final, with the Falcons coming out triumphant this time, 20-4.<\/p>\n

Games kicked off on Saturday morning after a Welcome To Country by Cherbourg Mayor Bruce Simpson.<\/p>\n

Eight men’s teams and six women’s teams were in action on two fields: T.J. O’Neill Oval (home of the Kingaroy Red Ants) and the adjacent Lyle Vidler Oval, which is more used to hosting cricket, croquet and AFL games.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Qld Outback was a new entrant in the 47th Battalion carnival this year, entering a team in both the men’s and women’s competitions despite some of the players travelling very long distances to take part.<\/p>\n

Both Outback teams made it through to the Plate Finals, with the women winning their clash against Gladstone Raidettes 4-0, while the men lost to hometown favourites, the Burnett Brahmans, 34-12.<\/p>\n

The venue for the 2025 47th Battalion Carnival is yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
