Cattle producers affected by the recent Bovine Johne\u2019s Disease (BJD) outbreak will be able to claim for financial support from today (May 31).<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister John McVeigh said affected producers can view eligibility criteria and apply for financial support from the Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy department will also be mailing information packs including application forms, eligibility criteria and guidelines directly to affected producers,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the financial support has been designed to help affected producers get back on track, the payments should not be considered as full compensation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr McVeigh also urged producers and industry stakeholders to make sure they had their say on the Queensland Cattle Industry Biosecurity Fund and proposed voluntary industry levy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis consultation closes at 5:00pm on June 7, 2013, and is available for feedback on the Get Involved website<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d Mr McVeigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe voluntary levy will start from mid-2014 and we\u2019re looking for feedback on what contribution rate the industry can manage.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeedback from industry and producers is vital to this process because the Fund will be driven and supported by industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
