South Burnett Regional Council will split its $8.4 million allocation from the State Government’s latest Works For Queensland funding round across all six divisions.

At Council’s Ordinary Meeting on June 19, Councillors endorsed a list of projects it has nominated under the 2024-27 Works for Queensland Program for assessment by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.

Councillors were each allocated $1.2 million for projects in their divisions, with Mayor Kathy Duff’s allocation to be spent across the entire region.

Project allocations were made under the following categories:

  • Liveability Infrastructure Community Facilities – $1,100,000

    • Liveability Infrastructure Parks – $ 1,555,303

      • Organisational Excellence $420,000

        • Transport Infrastructure Drainage – $ 1,012,214

          • Transport Infrastructure Kerb and Medians – $1,517,169

            • Transport Infrastructure Roads – $2,045,314

              • Water & Wastewater Infrastructure – $790,000

“I’m very happy that the total funding of $8.44 million will be distributed fairly across the region to improve job opportunities and stimulate economic growth,” Mayor Duff said.

The $300 million 2024-27 Works for Queensland Program funding round will support 65 rural and regional councils outside south-east Queensland to deliver local projects that create jobs, deliver better infrastructure and services, and improve the lives of Queenslanders now and into the future.

Details of individual projects are expected to be announced after the department assesses the SBRC’s submission.
