South Burnett Saints’ player James Packer was part of the South Queensland men’s AFL team which scored a narrow win over North Queensland in an exciting rep game played at Bond University at the weekend.<\/p>\n

After suffering a defeat last year, the South Queensland team came out firing, kicking the first two goals of the match.<\/p>\n

At the end of the first quarter, NQ had a narrow lead which they increased in the second stanza.<\/p>\n

However, SQ clawed their way back in the third, outscoring NQ three goals to two.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three consecutive goals by SQ in the last quarter put them in the lead, but NQ hadn’t given up and scored several late goals.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0 a final kick in the last seconds by SQ’s Alex McKay – his second for the match – sealed the win for the South, 13.8 (86) to 12.12 (84).<\/p>\n

South Queensland also dominated in the women’s game, finishing 4.6 (30) to North Queensland 1.2 (8).<\/p>\n
