Dinner at the Wondai Diggers Club on Saturday night capped off a big day of judging for entrants competing to represent the South Burnett Sub-Chamber at this year’s Ekka.<\/p>\n

The group, and their judges, toured Wondai … visiting the Heritage Museum, Timber Museum and David Earle Custom Saddles before dropping into Soul Moon Energies for lunch,<\/p>\n

There was judging during the day, topped off by on-stage questions and answers at the RSL Club during dinner.<\/p>\n

Three competitions were judged at the Sub-Chamber Finals: Showgirl, Rural Ambassador and Rich Dark Fruit Cake.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five women competed for the Showgirl honour: Chloe Chudleigh (Nanango), Veronica May (Kingaroy), Jayda Reimers (Murgon), Emily Schultz (Goomeri) and Jasmine Thornes (Wondai).<\/p>\n

Jasmine, who had been working hard on behalf of the Wondai Show Society to organise the Sub-Chamber event, impressed the judges and will be heading off to the Ekka as the South Burnett Showgirl.<\/p>\n

There were four competitors in the Rural Ambassador category: Renee Schofield (Kingaroy), Ashlee Schofield (Nanango), Maddie Pitstock (Goomeri) and Ariel Morris (Wondai).<\/p>\n

Maddie was awarded the South Burnett Rural Ambassador title, and will also be heading off to the Ekka.<\/p>\n

The Showgirl winner and Rural Ambassador will spend a full week at the Ekka, representing the region and undergoing personal and professional development.<\/p>\n

Veteran Ekka competitor Gloria Fleming, representing the Nanango Show Society, took out the Rich Dark Fruit Cake honour and will also be entering her work at the Ekka\u00a0 competition.<\/p>\n
