Nanango’s pop-up Containers For Change depot has shifted across the road, making life easier for both customers and employees of the recycling facility.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Nanango depot moved into the former Alexander’s Garage workshop, off Alexander Lane (entry via Drayton Street).<\/p>\n

The Nanango pop-up is an offshoot of Cherbourg Council’s Containers For Change refund point in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Manager Christine Beresford said the hours would remain the same for now, ie. open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00am to 1:00pm, however the plan was to move to four days a week soon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Christine said the pop-up was not a “full” depot like Kingaroy, but the covered area provided much better facilities for staff members.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy centre also manages container drop-off points in Blackbutt and Yarraman, and expects to have similar spots soon in Kumbia and Proston.<\/p>\n

It also manages recycling points for 23 schools.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Containers For Change network has 12 employees, including two based in Nanango.<\/p>\n

Containers For Change offers a refund – paid into your bank account – for aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and 3L.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This includes wine bottles and 2 litre soft drinks bottles.<\/p>\n

Excluded are plain milk containers, large containers (1L or more) which have contained flavoured milk, pure juice, cask wine or cask water; cordial or vegetable juice containers; and registered health tonics.<\/p>\n

All containers that are smaller than 150mL or bigger than 3L are also not eligible for a refund.<\/p>\n
