Four local schools have been allocated \u201cGo For Gold\u201d grants from the State Government to improve sporting infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The successful applicants were:\u00a0Blackbutt, Goomeri, Murgon and Wondai State Schools.<\/p>\n

The four schools were among 97 from across Queensland which received grants under Round 2 of the program which aims to support students to achieve their sporting best ahead of the 2032 Olympics and Paralympic Games in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

All Queensland schools, both State and independent, were able to apply for up to $500,000 in Round 2 Category 1.<\/p>\n

The assessment of applications for funding under Category 2 (for projects up to $2.5 million) and Category 3 (over $2.5 million up to and including $5 million) is still ongoing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Announcements are expected to be made in Term 3 this year.<\/p>\n

Fifteen local schools received grants last year from Round 1 of the program.<\/p>\n

They were: Benarkin, Cherbourg, Cloyna, Crawford, Durong South, Goomeri, Kilkivan, Kumbia, Murgon and Nanango State schools; Murgon and Nanango State High schools; and St John\u2019s Lutheran School (Kingaroy), St Joseph\u2019s School (Murgon) and St Mary\u2019s Catholic College (Kingaroy).<\/p>\n
