Heavy penalties apply to crossing double lines.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kingaroy Police are urging drivers to obey the traffic rules regarding double lines, especially illegal U-turns.<\/p>\n

A Kingaroy police spokesman said there had been an increasing incidence of this type of motorist behaviour,<\/p>\n

“Double line markings are located to ensure the safe movement of traffic,” he said.<\/p>\n

“They occur where visibility for motorists wishing to pass may be impaired due to the terrain, as well as in urban streets where crossing the centre lines is dangerous.<\/p>\n

“Fines for this offence are quite severe, highlighting the dangerous nature of such behaviour.<\/p>\n

“A motorist is not permitted to cross or perform a U-turn over a double continuous centre dividing line. This applies equally in town streets as on the highways.<\/p>\n

“For your own safety and that of other motorists, do not cross double lines.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
