A South Australian man believed to be responsible for an alleged assault near Goomeri last week has been arrested interstate.<\/p>\n

Allan Hopkins, 44, was wanted for alleged serious sexual offending involving a child under the age of 18 years in South Australia.<\/p>\n

South Australian police issued an alert for him last week after it was believed he could be travelling in south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

Police believe he may be responsible for an incident at a property south of Goomeri about 2:00pm last Thursday during which a man was allegedly struck with a hammer and his vehicle stolen.<\/p>\n

South Australian police confirmed on Monday morning that Hopkins had been arrested and was being held in custody.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“He was also wanted for offending in numerous different States,” an SA Police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“South Australia Police would like to thank all the other States’ authorities for their assistance in bringing this matter to a conclusion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“SAPOL wish to thank members of the public for their assistance.<\/p>\n

“More information will be provided when it comes to hand.”<\/p>\n

The ABC is reporting that Hopkins was arrested in NSW.<\/p>\n
