South Burnett SES groups have received a major boost thanks to donations from Energy Queensland, Powerlink and the operators of the Kingaroy Solar Farm.<\/p>\n

A small ceremony was held during an Open Day at the Kingaroy SES headquarters on Saturday morning to acknowledge the donations.<\/p>\n

The “Energising Queensland SES Equipment Program” partnership between Energy Queensland (Ergon, Energex and Yurika) and Powerlink provided almost $21,500 worth of equipment.<\/p>\n

Donations on display included a “rescue man” dummy used in flood rescue training, power tools, stretchers, generators, first aid equipment and a car fridge.<\/p>\n

These were part of a total $51,703 worth of equipment donated in 2023-24 to SES groups throughout the North Coast region, and $250,000 throughout Queensland.<\/p>\n

Also acknowledged on Saturday were two generous donations to the local SES by Mytilineos, operators of the Kingaroy Solar Farm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mytilineos donated a Polaris all-terrain vehicle which has already been put to good use by SES volunteers during recent land searches.<\/p>\n

The company also donated $10,000 cash which will be used to upgrade the Kingaroy SES facility.<\/p>\n

SES Gympie Burnett Area Controller Brenton Phillips thanked Powerlink, Energy Queensland and Mytilineos for their support.<\/p>\n

He also thanked the local SES volunteers for their “resilience, tenacity and commitment”.<\/p>\n

Mytilineos general manager (Oceania) Ian Kirkham told the volunteers “you matter, you make a difference”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We want to leave communities better than the way we found them,” Mr Kirkham said.<\/p>\n

Mytilineos community manager Lluvia Murillo said the company’s contribution would bolster the volunteers\u2019 capacity to respond effectively to disasters and emergencies across the region.<\/p>\n

Volunteers from SES groups across the South Burnett attended the Open Day, which also included a sausage sizzle for visitors.<\/p>\n
