A Murgon mother charged after her seven-month-old daughter drowned in a makeshift bath in 2021 will spend a year behind bars.<\/p>\n

Lavinia Alison Murray, who was 21 at the time of the incident, was sentenced in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews were called to a Murgon home on February 5, 2021.<\/p>\n

The Crown alleged Murray had left the baby, Trinity Graham, alone in a laundry sink with the tap running for several periods while she tended to her two other small children and spent time on social media.<\/p>\n

She checked on the baby several times, but the last time found a cloth had fallen into the sink, blocking the drain.<\/p>\n

Murray pleaded guilty to her daughter\u2019s manslaughter.<\/p>\n

Justice Paul Freeburn sentenced her to five years’ jail to be suspended for five years after she has served 12 months.<\/p>\n
