It was good weather at the weekend for frogs, ducks … and gardeners!<\/p>\n

The thought of rain may have deterred a few people from attending Wondai’s Autumn Garden Expo, but from the number of vehicles parked along the Bunya Highway, it didn’t scare too many away.<\/p>\n

Jodi Biltoft, secretary of the Wondai Garden Expo committee, told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> that\u00a0 gardeners don’t mind getting wet and muddy.<\/p>\n

She said buses had still rolled up for the expo, and keen gardeners had come out “in force”.<\/p>\n

“There’s been people from Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay and Biloela,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The people that come along know it is a special expo, with special stalls.<\/p>\n

“I received plenty of phone calls asking if it was still on … and when I said it was, they all said ‘fantastic!’.”<\/p>\n

Despite the weather, there were was a strong roll-up of stalls at the Wondai Sportsground<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Orchid Show<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Up the road, the South Burnett Orchid Society was holding its annual show at the Wondai Diggers Club.<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff, who is patron of the society, handed out the trophies to successful competitors and also donated a prize for the \u201cpinkest\u201d orchid.<\/p>\n

Competitors come from across south-east Queensland to show off their prize native and hybrid blooms.<\/p>\n
