April 21, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 115th Nanango Show had something for just about everyone last weekend … from racing ducks and pigs, to harness racing, chainsaw competitions and woodchopping.<\/p>\n

The action began on Friday with the announcement of the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador winners, as well as the Young Judges and Handlers competition.<\/p>\n

2024 Nanango Showgirl is Chloe Chudleigh with Ashlee Schofield named Rural Ambassador; the pair will go on to represent Nanango at the South Burnett Sub-Chamber finals later in the year.<\/p>\n

However, the main day of the show was Saturday, with an action-packed program from 7:00am until late into the evening.<\/p>\n

There was all the usual fun of the fair: sideshow alley, prime and stud cattle judging, equestrian events, a dog show plus live music during the afternoon and following the fireshow in the evening.<\/p>\n

The show was officially opened by South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff who recalled how she had been coming to the Nanango Show since she was a little girl involved in pony club events.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Agriculture is what we do in our region … and this is our opportunity to show what we do so well,” Mayor Duff said.<\/p>\n

Mayor Duff said there were more than 200 head of cattle at this year’s show, and praised the young people who had taken part in the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competitions as they were the future of local shows.<\/p>\n

Trots Final<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The final of the harness racing was held on Saturday evening after three heats and a consolation race earlier in the day:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n3. Lord Denzel – R.J. Gordon
\n4. Baby Ginnies – A.M. Payne<\/p>\n

Bull Ride<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

A highlight of the show for many visitors was the Saturday afternoon bullride events and barrel racing in the Len Bochmann Arena.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The $2990 Open event was won by Toowoomba rider Clay Hall, who had the only qualified ride out of seven competitors.<\/p>\n

The main barrel race event was won by Elyssa Kenny with Eliza Johnstone taking the Novice prize.<\/p>\n
