Chris Close’s last year in the NSWRL was with the Gold Coast Seagulls<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

April 19, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kingaroy RSL Club will be hosting the official launch of this year’s South Burnett’s Relay For Life fundraising campaign.<\/p>\n

The breakfast event will be held from 6:30am on Wednesday, May 15.<\/p>\n

Guest speaker will be a local sporting hero, Chris Close.<\/p>\n

“Choppy”, as he was best known, grew up in the South Burnett and played his junior rugby league with the Wondai Wolves.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He went on to play for Valleys and Redcliffe in the Brisbane RL premiership and Manly-Warringah in the NSWRL.<\/p>\n

Close also played State of Origin for Queensland and for Australia in New Zealand tours.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the breakfast are $35 and can be booked by phoning the club on (07) 4152-1755.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will also be raffles on the day, with all funds raised going to the Relay For Life campaign for Cancer Council Queensland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
