{"id":346872,"date":"2024-04-16T19:10:41","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T09:10:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=346872"},"modified":"2024-04-17T19:06:59","modified_gmt":"2024-04-17T09:06:59","slug":"five-developments-get-go-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2024\/04\/16\/five-developments-get-go-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Developments Get Go-Ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_327690\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-327690\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-327690 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1-269x167.jpg 269w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1-285x177.jpg 285w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1-340x211.jpg 340w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221216broadway1-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-327690\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Flames roar from the upper storey of Kingaroy&#8217;s Broadway Hotel in December 2022 &#8230; this was followed by a second fire on the ground floor in September 2023 (Photo: Supplied)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>April 16, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council has given development approval to five projects that could help transform the Kingaroy and Wondai CBDs.<\/p>\n<p>On March 28, Council approved an application by Jamptock Pty Ltd to demolish the derelict Broadway Hotel in Kingaroy Street and erect a modern, two-storey building.<\/p>\n<p>A hotel and bottleshop would be on the ground floor with 18 two- and three-bedroom short-term accommodation units on the first floor.<\/p>\n<p>The development would also take in an adjoining block at 14-16 Glendon Street, currently occupied by a house and shed which would be demolished.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Broadway Hotel building dates to 1937 but has been vacant since it stopped trading several years ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parts of it were extensively damaged by fires in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The site is located next to a former row of dilapidated shops which were demolished last year, eliminating one of Kingaroy CBD&#8217;s biggest eyesores.<\/p>\n<p>At present, this adjoining block now sits empty while its owners consider future uses for the site.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The Kingaroy Country Motel in Knight Street has been given approval to add an extra 10 units to its existing 20-unit motel at 32-36 Knight Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The expansion would entail the demolition or removal of an adjoining building on the corner of Pound Street.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the motel said the expansion was being driven by demand from workers employed on local renewable energy projects.<\/p>\n<p>No firm date has been set for construction but it is expected work on the project will proceed as soon as it is practical.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>South Burnett Regional Council has also given approval for the construction of a 14-unit, short-term accommodation complex at at the corner of Harris Road and Hodge Street in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The site will be landscaped and guests will not be allowed to check in &#8211; or use outdoor decks and patios &#8211; between 10:00pm and 6:00am to minimise noise for nearby residents.<\/p>\n<p>The site is owned by Peppertree Cabins and the complex will extend its current accommodation offerings.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>E.E.
