It wasn’t Anzac Day or Remembrance Day, so why were there “soldiers” trooping through Nanango on Saturday?<\/p>\n

The military parade – complete with horses and drummers – was part of an Army Cadets Expo hosted by Nanango’s 123ACU unit.<\/p>\n

Fifty cadets from all over south-east Queensland gathered at Nanango Showgrounds to meet cadets from other units, practice their skills and show local young people what the cadets is all about.<\/p>\n

The Expo was launched at 11:00am with a parade from the showgrounds along Drayton Street to the Nanango War Memorial where a Catafalque Party saluted the sacrifices of South Burnett residents.<\/p>\n

Nanango RSL treasurer Dallas Marks read an address at the service and welcomed the cadets to the town.<\/p>\n

After this, they were bussed back to the showgrounds for an afternoon of activities that included archery, first aid scenarios, drills, drums, fieldcraft, confidence courses, and displays by the Australian Light Horse re-enactment troop and fire brigade.<\/p>\n

The Expo concluded with a special dinner for relatives and friends of the cadets and invited guests.<\/p>\n
