Gympie Mayor Ron Dyne<\/strong> has been appointed to the Bruce Highway Crisis Management Group which is pressuring the Federal Government to fund repairs to the highway.<\/p>\n

Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney said Mr Dyne brought local knowledge to the group, which was committed to making safety and flood immunity the priorities for the 10-year Crisis Action Plan for the highway.<\/p>\n

LNP Member for Gympie David Gibson welcomed the announcement and said the State Government would do all it could to have the Federal Labor Government recognise the need to adequately fund Bruce Highway improvements.<\/p>\n

“I’m glad Mayor Dyne will be on the committee to provide Gympie with another voice to get this road fixed for Queenslanders,” Mr Gibson said.<\/p>\n

Mr Seeney said the ALP had failed for 20 years to fix the major transport artery, which was arguably one of the worst Queensland roads.<\/p>\n

“Mr Dyne will join the other group members to fight for the federal funding this road so desperately needs,” Mr Seeney said.<\/p>\n

“I welcome him to the team and look forward to working with him and the rest of the group to achieve better outcomes for motorists.”<\/p>\n

The LNP Government has asked the Department of Main Roads to compile the Crisis Action Plan to address the Bruce Highway. It is expected to be completed within six months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
