Residents along Pierces Creek Road – from Mt Binga to Crows Nest – have been advised by the Toowoomba Regional Council to plan their journeys as multiple flood recovery projects are scheduled\u00a0 for the remainder of this year.<\/p>\n

General manager infrastructure services Mike Brady said the works would be addressing flood-related damage from the February 2022 floods.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cRepair works will include various sealed road repair treatments such as sealed pavement repairs and sealed edge repairs\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will also be replacing eight culverts that have received damage during the flooding events along the length of the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn some instances, damaged culverts need to be replaced to a new standard and those projects may take some time to complete.\u201d<\/p>\n

In most cases, roads and culvert repairs will be completed under stop-and-go traffic arrangements with advanced notification signposted prior to each project commencing to minimise disruption to the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue to urge residents to follow the direction of traffic management personnel on site to ensure the safety of the community and our work teams,\u201d Mr Brady said.<\/p>\n

The works along Pierces Creek Road will be delivered by both the Georgiou Group (the TRC’s flood recovery contractor in the north) and Council\u2019s own construction and maintenance team.<\/p>\n

The Flood Recovery Program repairs are limited to repairing damage that has occurred as a direct result of the 2022 declared flood events.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Any other road damage or maintenance will be addressed in accordance with Council\u2019s construction and maintenance programs.<\/p>\n

Total repair works for the 2022 Flood Recovery Program is expected to exceed $250 million across the region, with assistance provided through the jointly funded Federal-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.<\/p>\n

The Flood Recovery Program works are expected to be completed by the end of this year, weather permitting.<\/p>\n
