Looking for a way to celebrate St Patrick’s Day? Then this could be it … a Celtic Festival Concert at the Nanango Cultural Centre on March 17 to help raise funds for the LifeFlight Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt Singers have organised the Celtic Festival, which is being sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Judy Lawrence, from the Blackbutt Singers, said LifeFlight Rescue offered a lifeline to people in the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“In an environment where access to medical care can sometimes take hours by road, having aeromedical interventions can often mean the difference between life and death,” she said.<\/p>\n

LifeFlight spokesperson Cassie Grentell said there had been more than 150 trips to the local area in the past six months.<\/p>\n

“The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crews are no stranger to the South Burnett,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Events like this mean the aeromedical service can continue to help people in their time of need.<\/p>\n

“It’s really important that we have these events and raise awareness that we do need the support of the community. Without local support we aren’t able to do everything we do. LifeFlight picks up anybody, anywhere at any time and at no cost to the patient.\u201d<\/p>\n

The members of the Blackbutt Singers will also be organising a raffle, with prizes supported by businesses in the South Burnett.\u00a0 All proceeds will go directly to LifeFlight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Performers will be freely giving of their talent and time for this event,” Judy said.<\/p>\n

“The line-up includes the Blackbutt Singers, Toowoomba-based Women in Harmony, the Kingaroy State High School Choir, Sue Dowideit-Reiger; South Burnett Community Orchestra principal violinist Caz Dingle and Jane Erkens.<\/p>\n

“The program on the day will be a true Celtic celebration with songs from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.”<\/p>\n

The choirs will perform Irish, Scottish and Welsh songs including ‘How Are Things In Glocca Morra’, ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Skye Boat Song’, ‘The Fields Of Athenry’, ‘Suo G\u00e2n’ and ‘The Ash Grove’.<\/p>\n

Admission is $20 for adults and $15 concession, which includes a free Devonshire tea at intermission. Children under 12, accompanied by an adult, are free.<\/p>\n

Doors will open at 2:00pm for a 2:30pm start.<\/p>\n
