South Burnett and Cherbourg councils have received funding to continue the employment of an illegal dumping compliance officer.<\/p>\n

The funding is part of $2.7 million announced at the weekend to support 30 local councils in the fight against illegal dumping.<\/strong><\/p>\n

More than $11.1 million in grants have been provided to local councils across Queensland since 2020 in the Local Government Illegal Dumping Partnerships Program.<\/p>\n

The grants allow councils to employ dedicated illegal dumping compliance officers to identify those illegally dumping in their communities and proactively look at ways to prevent illegal dumping from happening.<\/p>\n

The State Government has also set aside\u00a0 $7 million to employ regional waste management plan co-ordinators to improve environmental and economic outcomes for regions.<\/p>\n
