Metropolitan North beat South Coast 30-24 today in the nail-biting grand final of the four-day Queensland School Sport Rugby League State Championships at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

In an even match, both teams battled it out with barely a two-point difference between them for most of the game.<\/p>\n

The tide turned for Metropolitan North in the final eight minutes, however, when a try and a conversion put them six points ahead of their rivals – a lead South Coast were unable to reverse in the remaining time despite a valiant effort to do so.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at Kingaroy State High School’s oval this morning, Wide Bay and Metropolitan West battled out a hard-fought 24-all draw in the Consolation Cup match, with Metropolitan West just managing to equalise in the dying minutes of the game.<\/p>\n

The carnival concluded with the presentation of awards and the announcement of the QSSRL U18 Queensland Team for 2013.<\/p>\n
