A 42-year-old woman was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition after a collision involving a car and a school bus in the Somerset region on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the incident, on Esk-Crows Nest Road near Tuites Lane at Biarra, just after 8:00am.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said a sedan being driven by the woman was pulling out of a driveway when the crash occurred.<\/p>\n

She was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be cut free by QFES crews.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight rescue helicopter was despatched to the scene at 8:30am.<\/p>\n

It managed to land close to the incident after the road was closed by police.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The woman was treated by QAS paramedics and the LifeFlight critical care doctor before being transferred to the waiting helicopter.<\/p>\n

A QAS spokesperson said she had suffered severe head and leg injuries.<\/p>\n

The 61-year-old male bus driver\u00a0was taken by ambulance to Esk Hospital with minor injuries.<\/p>\n

Two other people on board, believed to be aged in their teens, were not injured.<\/p>\n

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.<\/p>\n
