Four Kingaroy State High School students are looking for “victims” (ie willing participants!) who are keen to improve their health and fitness.<\/p>\n

The students are completing a Certificate III in Fitness as a school-based apprenticeship with Tyrone Saul at You First Personal Training<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The students attend the You First PT studio, in Kingaroy Street, one day a week.<\/p>\n

They began their training in October last year and will graduate this year. They will then have the opportunity of extending their studies into Certificate IV.<\/p>\n

As part of their course, the students hope to take a group of clients under their wings for the next six months.<\/p>\n

“They will be responsible for developing and evaluating an exercise program for the clients and providing ongoing motivational support,” Tyrone said.<\/p>\n

The participants will pay a discounted rate of $15 for a 45-minute session (however this session must occur sometime between 9:00am and 2:00pm on Thursdays) .<\/p>\n

The sessions will focus on weight loss, cardiovascular fitness, strength training and general health and well-being.<\/p>\n

“It is an opportunity for them to improve their health and well-being in a controlled environment,” Tyrone said.<\/p>\n

“This is not a gym. This is a personal service as opposed to a facility.”<\/p>\n

Tyrone was a teacher at Kingaroy State High School for eight years before branching out into his own company.<\/p>\n

He now has a studio on the Sunshine Coast but feels a special relationship with Kingaroy and the local high school.<\/p>\n

He has been working with students from the school for three years.<\/p>\n

“There is a culture at the school that is instilled into the kids. They are outstanding,” he said.<\/p>\n

“This is a bridging opportunity for the students which provides a real-life experience which can be utilised after they leave school.”<\/p>\n

He aims for each student to have a portfolio of five clients.<\/p>\n

“They will be responsible for those people. This is a big opportunity for the community to be involved,” he said.<\/p>\n
