The South Burnett Sub-Chamber, responsible for overseeing agricultural shows in the region, is facing a crisis following its AGM in Kingaroy on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Public relations officer Jasmine Thornes said the problem – the lack of a secretary – could threaten the existence of the committee.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A new committee was elected at the AGM,\u00a0chaired at Kingaroy Showgrounds by QCAS general manager Trevor Beckingham OAM:<\/p>\n

  • President – Leonie Nichols<\/li>\n
  • Vice-President – Amanda Palmer, and<\/li>\n
  • Treasurer Daniel Trace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    However the key position of secretary was not filled.<\/p>\n

    “Unless a suitable individual steps forward to fill this volunteer position by March 6, the sub-chamber will be forced to dissolve,” Jasmine said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    She\u00a0said the secretary played a pivotal role in co-ordinating and managing the administrative responsibilities crucial to the success of the sub-chamber.<\/p>\n

    “This includes liaising with show societies, maintaining records and ensuring the smooth functioning of the organisation,” Jasmine said.<\/p>\n

    “The sub-chamber is urgently seeking a committed and capable individual willing to dedicate their time and skill to preserving the rich agricultural heritage of the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n

    “The secretary’s position is open to anyone with the willingness and ability to contribute to the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    “The selected individual will receive guidance and support from the new committee as well as the delegates of the show societies within the South Burnett region.”<\/p>\n

    The sub-chamber has scheduled a special meeting at Kingaroy Showgrounds from 7:00pm on March 6.<\/p>\n

    Nominations for the secretary’s position will be accepted during the meeting.<\/p>\n

    The sub-chamber is also looking for people to fill the roles of Delegate and Next Gen delegate.<\/p>\n
