Wondai Regional Art Gallery has started the new year with a flourish, featuring works by both visiting and local artists in its first exhibition for 2024.<\/p>\n

Hyper-realistic and abstract works by Wondai artist Katrina O’Shannessy have taken over the front gallery, while Kingaroy-based Cherry Carroll has a diverse collection of “Bits and Bobs” filling Gallery 3.<\/p>\n

Seven Sunshine Coast artists have filled the walls of the main gallery with an eclectic selection of works, grouped under the title “Pulse: Rhythms of the Land”.<\/p>\n

Their exhibition consists of paintings, drawings and prints as well as ceramics in a range of styles which aim to capture the changing moods of the region’s landscapes.<\/p>\n

Five of the seven artists made the journey to Wondai on Friday for the official opening night.<\/p>\n

Cr Kathy Duff was enlisted by gallery patron Ros Heit to do the honours, but Cr Duff then invited three of Katrina’s children to actually cut the obligatory pink ribbon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Kidz Korner this month is a range of works by Tingoora State School pupils.<\/p>\n

Principal Tanya Taylor praised the “Kidz Korner” concept, saying this was the first time a school she had been connected with had been invited to exhibit students’ work in an art gallery.<\/p>\n

“I am so excited that we were asked to hang our work up,” she said.<\/p>\n

The exhibitions will remain on display at Wondai Gallery until 3:00pm on Saturday, February 24.<\/p>\n

The gallery is open seven days a week, from 10:00am until 3:00pm. Entry is free.<\/p>\n
