January 27, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wondai’s Australia Day events were concentrated around Coronation Park and the Wondai Regional Art Gallery.<\/p>\n

The day began with a free community breakfast in the morning and a formal flag-raising ceremony by Wondai’s 135 ACU cadets.<\/p>\n

The Wondai & District Town Band played the National Anthem.<\/p>\n

The focus then switched to inside the gallery, where art competitions ran all day.<\/p>\n

Junior and senior would-be artists worked on canvasses and decorated traditional items under the guidance of South Burnett artists Natasha Duncan and Julie Taschke.<\/p>\n

The winners of the competitions were announced in the evening, when free pizzas were also distributed.<\/p>\n

A highlight at night was a performance by the young Wirri Wakka Dancers who invited the other children present to join in.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gallery patron Ros Heit said the theme of the day was “Respect, Reflect and Celebrate – We’re All Part Of The Story”.<\/p>\n

She wanted to thank the Australia Day Council for the grant which made the event possible.<\/p>\n
