The South Burnett’s Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) is urging residents to be prepared in case extreme weather linked to Tropical Cyclone Kirrily affects the region.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said TC Kirrily was expected to affect northern Queensland but there was always a chance a low could form and track southwards.<\/p>\n

The LDMG and Council are currently taking precautions around early preparedness and have requested the community also be prepared.<\/p>\n

LDMG chair Cr Danita Potter reminded residents to have an emergency kit, follow messages from the Bureau of Meteorology and keep up to date with Council\u2019s Disaster Dashboard<\/B><\/A>.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Disaster Dashboard has live links to QFES, BoM, Qld Traffic and Ergon together with active evacuation centres should they be required.<\/p>\n

And never drive through floodwaters.\u00a0Driving into floodwater is the number one cause of flood-related deaths in Queensland.<\/p>\n
