A Ballogie greyhound trainer has faced an inquiry by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) into the welfare of two dogs.<\/p>\n

The QRIC concluded its inquiry into the welfare of Red Burner and Vernan Park on January 10.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The dogs were scratched from race meetings at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club, Albion Park, on October 4 last year after on-track inspections.<\/p>\n

The inquiry found Vernan Park was “grossly underweight”.<\/p>\n

Licensed trainer Janene Armstrong pleaded guilty to two charges: the first alleged she had failed to provide sufficient food to a greyhound in her care; and the second that she had engaged in conduct which was detrimental to the interest, welfare, image, control and promotion of greyhound racing.<\/p>\n

Stewards noted that Mrs Armstrong had co-operated throughout the inquiry and had complied with all directions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They also noted her early pleas and the fact she had no prior breaches.<\/p>\n

On the first charge, Mrs Armstrong’s training licence was suspended for 12 months, backdated to October 6, 2023, with stewards acknowledging time served and suspending the balance for two years.<\/p>\n

On the second charge, her licence was suspended for three months, also backdated to October 6.<\/p>\n
