Fifty-eight medical interns will begin work in Darling Downs Health hospitals this month, the largest cohort since the region’s graduate program began.<\/p>\n

The interns will be placed across urban, rural and remote locations.<\/p>\n

Chief executive Annette Scott PSM said it was very encouraging to see young doctors preparing for careers in general practice in regional communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese foundation years for medical graduates are exceptionally important and I\u2019m confident they\u2019ll have a positive experience at Darling Downs Health,\u201d Ms Scott said.<\/p>\n

Dr Anthony Patsalou is one of the graduates in the program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He has returned to Toowoomba Hospital after completing his medical degree and a stint at Kingaroy Hospital, and is now off to Warwick’s Emergency Department.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m keen to get out there, I\u2019m quite used to the rural communities having done placements in Kingaroy and Roma,” Dr Patsalou said.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully when I come back to Toowoomba in 12 weeks, the experience will have set me up for other rotations as well.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
