Shane MacDonald has sold the car in which he scored his 2023 Kings Royal victory as well as recent wins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Despite his recent strong form, Toowoomba speedway driver Shane MacDonald won’t be defending his “King of Kingaroy” crown at the 2024 Kings Royal.<\/p>\n

MacDonald took out the $10,000 final of the Kings Royal for Modified Sedans earlier this year, and after his performance on Saturday night should have been firming as favourite for the 2024 event which will be raced at the Kingaroy Speedway on January 26-28.<\/p>\n

However, MacDonald has told his supporters he won’t be able to defend his crown.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately – or fortunately (however you want to think of it) – we have sold the car and will be unable to compete in these big races or be able to try and defend the Royal,” MacDonald said on Monday.<\/p>\n

“However this means that we now have the funds to finish off the new car which unfortunately won\u2019t be ready for a while yet.”<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, MacDonald downed local hero Josh Harm and David Head in the A Main final of the “Prelude to the Royal” Christmas Cup for Modified Sedans.<\/p>\n

He also set the fastest lap time in the race.<\/p>\n

Along the way MacDonald also racked up two wins and a narrow third in the heats.<\/p>\n
