\u201cWe have a better relationship with the whole family,\u201d a Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) graduate said at Cherbourg last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt helps you to understand your child,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt helps support families to bring their children up.\u201d<\/p>\n

These quotes were collected among surveys that prove Triple P is making a difference to Cherbourg\u2019s families\u2019 well-being.<\/p>\n

Last week the Barambah PaCE-run program added eight more carers of children aged 0-12 to its list of graduates.<\/p>\n

Bronwyn Murray was one of them. She idolised her mother and grandparents as a child because they provided a safe and warm environment for her to live in.<\/p>\n

Their role modelling led young Bronwyn to give them respect and ensured she finished school despite her \u201cnot understanding anything\u201d while sitting in class.<\/p>\n

Mrs Murray now has two university degrees.<\/p>\n

\u201cI dropped out of school for three weeks and my pop said he was very disappointed in me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he was going to come down on me like a tonne of bricks but he didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe let me work it out for myself and after roaming the mission visiting people I got bored and went back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michell Forster is the Triple P presenter Barambah PaCE brings to Cherbourg, and she has lived the Triple P story herself.<\/p>\n

Her young son was in constant trouble at school and getting Ds and Es on his report cards.<\/p>\n

Ms Forster did a Triple P course and used what she learned at home on a consistent basis.<\/p>\n

Her son got As and Bs on his last report card.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t believe it!\u201d Ms Forster said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to check it wasn\u2019t somebody else\u2019s report card.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Ms Forster said the strongest foundation for success always starts in the home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Triple P program shows people how they can be role models for their children in a way that offers them great support,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

A University Of Queensland study shows parents\u2019 confidence rose from a score of 129.7 to 160.4 and children\u2019s behaviour problems reduced.<\/p>\n

The next Triple P program will be held at the Cherbourg Council\u2019s training rooms on July 15-16 from 9:00am-2:00pm. Lunch and morning tea will be provided.<\/p>\n
