Kumbia’s annual Christmas Carnival attracted hundreds of people to the grounds around Kumbia Hall on Saturday night, including a jolly gentleman in a red suit.<\/p>\n

The good cheer and cameraderie that are hallmarks of Kumbia’s annual Christmas celebrations were present in abundance.<\/p>\n

A range of gift and market stalls lined the grounds; a giant inflatable obstacle course and face painting kept small children amused; Christmas ham raffles added excitement for those willing to chance their luck; and there were plenty of soft drinks, burgers and sausages on bread to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Patrons who preferred to sit and chat or listen to live music from compere Richie Hamilton were making use of the tables and chairs spread around the grounds.<\/p>\n

Santa arrived right on sunset in a police car driven by Kumbia officer-in-charge, Senior Constable Todd Armstrong.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was whisked quickly to a chair prepared for him in front of the shelter, where assistant Gayle Carroll helped him hand out lollies to the throng of children that quickly surrounded him.<\/p>\n

This year’s Carnival was run by the Kumbia Hall Committee with sponsorship from Ryke Fuel, the Kumbia Hotel, Cr Scott Henschen, Bunya Red Farm, Crumptons Peanuts, JC Catering and X-Factor.<\/p>\n

The committee also thanked Les Cartlidge for his help with the electrics; Devynn Pomerenke and Hannah Jenkins for face painting; and all the members and volunteers who helped out on the night.<\/p>\n
