The new Christmas Tree which has sprung up in Memorial Park, Hivesville<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Father Christmas took a break from his hectic pre-Christmas schedule to drop in to Hivesville on Sunday night to say hello to local children.<\/p>\n

The annual Christmas Fair in Memorial Park was organised by the Hivesville Progress Association, whose members were proudly sporting their new “busy bee” shirts.<\/p>\n

Another new look for 2023 was the community’s Christmas tree, which was organised by the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

As well as lollies and ice blocks for the kids, there was a free sausage sizzle for the adults to enjoy, along with live musical entertainment, Christmas carols and inflatable jumping castles.<\/p>\n

When the Christmas tree is dismantled in the New Year, it will be replaced by a unique new Hivesville-themed sculpture created by Carina and Preston Fisher, from Crinkle Creek Garden Art.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This will be unveiled in a special ceremony, pencilled in for Australia Day (to be confirmed).<\/p>\n

The Progress Association has been kept busy this year running the monthly markets in Memorial Park but spokesperson Barbara Hockey said the group was working on even bigger plans.<\/p>\n

These include the provision of play equipment for local children in vacant railway land, known locally as “Mother Of Millions Park”, which the Progress Association leased from the Council this year.<\/p>\n

Concept plans have also been drawn up for the group’s long-term goal of one day building a multi-use community centre in town.<\/p>\n
