{"id":341495,"date":"2023-12-01T18:01:54","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T08:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=341495"},"modified":"2023-12-01T18:01:54","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T08:01:54","slug":"grants-available-for-flood-alerts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2023\/12\/01\/grants-available-for-flood-alerts\/","title":{"rendered":"Grants Available For Flood Alerts"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_321347\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-321347\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/murraywatt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-321347\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/murraywatt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-321347\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Federal Minister for Emergency Management Murray Watt<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>December 1, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett and Cherbourg are among 23 councils in Queensland which have been invited to apply for funding to install flood warning equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Other nearby councils which are eligible for funding under the $7 million joint Federal \/ State government Flood Warning Infrastructure Network program are Gympie, Toowoomba , North Burnett,\u00a0Western Downs and Somerset.<\/p>\n<p>The councils are eligible because they were activated for Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements after the 2022 Queensland floods.<\/p>\n<p>The funding can be used by councils for infrastructure including rainfall and river gauges, flood cameras, data repeaters and electronic signs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cCommunities, emergency services and businesses need reliable access to flood forecasts and warnings, to help them prepare and respond to flooding events,&#8221; Federal Minister for Emergency Management Murray Watt said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to work with the Palaszczuk Government to deliver this potentially life-saving program, designed to improve Queensland\u2019s flood warning network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this program, Councils will submit projects based on their own unique and localised requirements, ensuring local knowledge is front and centre when preparing for future disasters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Albanese Government is committed to improving Australia\u2019s flood warning infrastructure network, including an additional $236 million investment over 10 years to buy and upgrade high priority flood gauges that are currently owned by local, state and territory governments in flood-prone areas.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Burnett and Cherbourg are among 23 councils in Queensland which have been invited to apply for funding to install flood warning equipment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":321348,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3,36],"tags":[1131,1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
