Durong grazier Georgie Somerset AM has been appointed chair of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland).<\/p>\n

Mrs Somerset has served on the RFDS Board since 2016 and was appointed deputy chair in November 2021.<\/p>\n

The role is Mrs Somerset’s latest key appointment.<\/p>\n

She is also general president of AgForce Qld, chair of the Red Earth Foundation South Burnett and a Board member of the ABC, National Farmers Federation and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She has previously served on the Wide Bay-Burnett Regional Development Australia committee, was president of the Queensland Rural, Regional & Remote Women’s Network and a director of the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority and the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.<\/p>\n

In October, Mrs Somerset stood for the position as president of the National Farmers Federation but was defeated at the election by Victorian grain grower David Jochinke.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
