The South Burnett Regional Council’s annual health expo ensured that Kingaroy Town Hall was packed with stalls – and information – on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The expo is an opportunity for local residents to find out more about what health and support services are available in the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n

Stalls were hosted by both not-for-profit and community organisations, including the QFES which was spruiking the benefits of smoke alarms.<\/p>\n

From January 1 last year, when a new lease on a rental property starts (or is renewed) all smoke alarms must be photoelectric, hardwired or have a 10-year tamper-proof battery.<\/p>\n

They must be installed in each bedroom, and in hallways which connect bedrooms, and on each storey.<\/p>\n

And from January 1, 2027, all homes – including owner-occupied properties – must have interconnected photoelectric alarms.<\/p>\n

The health expo is also a great opportunity for employees from the various South Burnett agencies to network with each other, and learn what other supports are available in the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It also provided an opportunity for the unveiling of a new online South Burnett Community Directory<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

More networking was scheduled to continue on Thursday evening with a meet’n’greet for service providers and health professionals to be held in Glendon Street Forecourt from 5:00pm (weather permitting).<\/p>\n

Up to 70 people were expected to attend this event.<\/p>\n

NB. The new online directory has no connection to South Burnett Online, publishers of this report.<\/em><\/p>\n
