Reconstruction work on five North Coast Region roads – including the Mugon-Kilcoy Road – will start soon with the awarding of a $17 million construction contract.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said Probuild Civil (Qld) Pty Ltd had been awarded the contract after a competitive tender process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe focus has been on getting value for money and ensuring we can get the project delivered as efficiently as possible,\u201d Ms Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough there was a delay in awarding the contract, work on all roads will still be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Contractors will be onsite in coming weeks and timeframes for construction on each road will be shared with local communities and motorists.<\/p>\n

Ms Frecklington said the contract includes reconstruction works on the Murgon-Kilcoy and Esk-Hampton roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe start of work on these roads will be welcome news for local communities and motorists,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese works will include earthworks, slope stabilisation and repairs to slips and pavement.<\/p>\n

\u201cReconstruction of these roads will mean all roads damaged in North Coast Region during the 2011 floods will be re-opened to two lanes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe enormity and complexity of the reconstruction task has been a major challenge and we are grateful for the patience of the local communities and road users.\u201d<\/p>\n

The program of works is being delivered under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements, a joint federal and state initiative.<\/p>\n

Under these arrangements, the Australian Government provides 75 per cent of the funding, with 25 per cent from the State Government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
