South Burnett councillor – and 2024 mayoral candidate – Kathy Duff has been named as one of the 19 finalists in the 2023 Shine Awards.<\/p>\n

The awards recognise the achievements of women in rural and regional Australia and have been running for seven years.<\/p>\n

They are an initiative of News Corp and sponsored by Harvey Norman.<\/p>\n

Entrants have been placed six categories: Belief, Courage, Dedication, Grace, Passion and Spirit.<\/p>\n

Cr Duff has been recognised in the “Dedication” category for serving her community “through tragedy and triumph” for more than 20 years, and becoming a vocal advocate for mental health support in rural Australia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 19 finalists were selected from a field of 124.<\/p>\n

The category winners will each receive a $2500 Harvey Norman voucher.<\/p>\n

The overall winner will receive an extra $5000 from Harvey Norman.<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced in News Corp’s rural newspaper, The Weekly Times, on November 22 and in The Australian newspaper on November 23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
