A master plan for Kingaroy’s Memorial Park adopted by the South Burnett Regional Council in February has won a national award.<\/p>\n

The Council – along with Otium Planning Group and Greenedge Design – received the 2023 Strategic and Master Planning Award at this year’s Joint International Congress hosted by World Parks and Parks and Leisure Australia.<\/p>\n

The annual awards, which began in 2003, recognise excellence in the parks and leisure industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They aim to promote best practice and to recognise outstanding work by individuals and teams employed in these areas.<\/p>\n

This year’s awards were presented at the Adelaide Convention Centre on October 24 and were attended by the SBRC’s Manager of Facilities and Parks Leanne Petersen who accepted the award on behalf of Council, Otium Planning and Greenedge Design.<\/p>\n

The Memorial Park Master Plan provides a blueprint for the future development of the popular regional park and community pool.<\/p>\n

“It aims to embody the community\u2019s collective vision to provide an inviting, activated, inclusive and sustainable regional park and aquatic facility that foster community well being and liveability,” a Council spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

The award is the second the gong the Master Plan has won.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In June, the plan was voted best of its type at the annual Park and Leisure Australia Queensland Conference in Brisbane.<\/p>\n
