Blackbutt musician Warren Gould is organising the fundraising concert on Sunday, December 3<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

November 14, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Local Lions clubs have thrown their weight behind a Blackbutt fundraiser for drought and fire-affected farmers.<\/p>\n

The fundraising concert – at the Hotel Radnor on Sunday, December 3 – has been organised by Blackbutt musician Warren Gould.<\/p>\n

It boasts a line up which includes David Lynch, Lloyd Back, Ground Crew and Amos, and Richie Arrowsmith.<\/p>\n

The headline act will be popular local band Rufus Jack, with Sonia McMahon on lead vocals.<\/p>\n

Paradox, a teenage band from Kingaroy, will kick things off at 11:30am with live music running through until 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

Entry will be free.<\/p>\n

Donations will be taken up on the day as well as raffles, with some of the raffle funds used to offset costs.<\/p>\n

This will enable 100 per cent of the funds raised from donations to directly benefit fire and drought-affected farmers and families in the South Burnett and Western Downs areas.<\/p>\n

Donations will be distributed via the newly formed South Burnett Drought Support Committee, a joint initiative led by BIEDO in partnership with the South Burnett Regional Council and the Red Earth Community Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Kathy Duff, part of the committee, said funds would be distributed in the form of vouchers for use at local businesses for fuel, groceries and produce.<\/p>\n

Lions Zone 4 chairman Peter Coombes said Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club also plans to collect donations.<\/p>\n

The initiative has the support of Lions Clubs throughout Districts 201 Q3 and Q4.<\/p>\n

Negotiations are also under way to involve GIVIT which, if successful, would allow donations made to be tax-deductible.<\/p>\n

UPDATE November 27:\u00a0 Through a partnership with GIVIT, all funds will be distributed via vouchers for local businesses, ensuring that farmers and their families receive essential items and that our local businesses and economy is also supported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A goal of $50,000 has been set by the working members of the South Burnett Drought Committee.<\/p>\n
