Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington says she is appalled that a State Government-owned house in Nanango is still sitting empty.<\/p>\n

The house, formerly occupied by Nanango doctor Dr John Robinson has remained empty for 3\u00bd years since Dr Robinson left the residence in June 2020.<\/p>\n

“In November last year I asked the Minister for the Department of Public Works, Mick De Brenni about why the property had remained vacant for so long given the current high demand for housing,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwelve months later, the home still sits empty, while families from our region desperately search to put a roof over their heads.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLabor claims they are ‘swooping’ on homes for social housing, but this is a classic case of the government caring more about how things look rather than focusing on how things actually are for Queenslanders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in the middle of a housing crisis with 40,000 Queenslanders desperately waiting for social housing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is really poor form that Labor\u2019s Public Works Minister can\u2019t make a decision about how to utilise this home.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething has to be done. Either make the home available for social housing or prepare the property for return to the private market.”<\/p>\n
