Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington says the delivery of chemotherapy treatment at the Kingaroy Hospital has been a huge win for local cancer patients.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington visited the team providing the new teleoncology services at Kingaroy Hospital last week to thank them for their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was such a privilege to tour the new teleoncology area and meet the nurses who are providing on-site chemo treatment,\u201d\u00a0 Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoining me on the day was McGrath Foundation Nurse Sue Cox who has seen first-hand the benefits of local treatment for her patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe nurses are doing a fantastic job and the feedback I have received from local patients is that the service is making a huge difference in their lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a huge win for the people of the South Burnett and I am pleased that years of advocacy for this service has paid off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been fighting for better regional and rural health care for our community for many years and it is fantastic to see a teleoncology service working so well to help save the lives of cancer patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo longer do they have to travel hours away for treatment. Instead they are able to stay close to families and friends when they need it the most.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the four months since the service began, there have already been 93 individual appointments which means 93 fewer trips that had to be made to Toowoomba or the coast for treatment.”<\/p>\n
