Two long-standing members of the Murgon Business and Development Association (MBDA) retired from key roles at the group’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Well-known Murgon businessman Leo Geraghty OAM stood down after a total of 17 years as MBDA president, and Margaret Long from Murgon Real Estate retired as secretary after 18 years in the role.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy Wicks, from Wicks and Co Agencies, will take over as president, while Robyn Hallewell will assume the role of secretary.<\/p>\n

Lorraine Goodchild was re-elected treasurer.<\/p>\n

The group’s executive will be supported by board members Shane Sippel, Leigh Hook, Joy Fennell and John Robinson.<\/p>\n

The AGM was held at Murgon’s Royal Hotel and was attended by about 20 members, along with Acting Mayor Gavin Jones and Cr Kathy Duff.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leo told southburnett.com.au<\/b> he plans to use his spare time to oversee the day-to-day operation of the 55 Million Years Ago museum, which opened on October 10.<\/p>\n

He said the museum was a major new attraction for the town and developing it to its full potential could only benefit the area.<\/p>\n

Since its doors opened earlier this month the Museum has drawn a steady stream of visitors, and Leo said he hoped to get many more from the upcoming Murgon Music Muster.<\/p>\n
