Berkley had no luck in the A Main despite starting on the front row of the grid<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>October 24, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy Speedway&#8217;s 2023-24 racing season began with a bang on Saturday night with Victorian champion Matt Nelson taking out the prestigious Queensland Modified Sedan title.<\/p>\n<p>South Burnett driver Josh Harm duelled with the\u00a0 dominant Victorian in the latter stages of the 40-lap final, managing to pass him on Lap 28 only to suffer mechanical issues with just five laps left to run.<\/p>\n<p>Three other South Burnett drivers qualified for the A Main final:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heats 4 and 12 winner Ben Stead secured No 3 position on the grid but was taken out in a crash on Lap 3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat 7 winner Brett Barron went into the wall on Lap 16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Pacey Clegg finished the highest of the South Burnett drivers, coming in 12th spot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Matt Nelson is just the second Victorian to claim the SSA Modified Sedan Queensland State Title.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reigning Kings Royal &#8220;king&#8221;, Toowoomba driver Shane MacDonald, came in second.<\/p>\n<p>Production Sedans, Street Stocks, National 4s and Junior Sedans were also in action on the night.<\/p>\n<p>Some flying tyres caused stoppages during the Modified Sedans final but none of these were as dramatic as what occurred earlier in the night, during Heat 8 of the Production Sedans.<\/p>\n<p>The lights around the course suddenly failed mid-race, plunging the racetrack into darkness.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately all the drivers managed to slow down in time, avoiding any collisions.<\/p>\n<p>After a few anxious minutes, the lights came back on and the next scheduled event, Heat 9 of the Production Sedans, went ahead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_339246\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-339246\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-339246 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1-269x167.jpg 269w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1-285x177.jpg 285w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1-340x211.jpg 340w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20231121speedway1-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-339246\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Current Victorian champion Matt Nelson took out the 40-lap final of the Queensland Modified Sedan title<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Results<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<table border=0 cellp[adding=0 cellspacing=0 width=100%>\n<tr>\n<td width=50%>\n<strong>Queensland Modified Sedan Title<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1.
