Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s Local Disaster Management Group has moved to “stand-up” status following the issuing of a “leave immediately” bushfire warning for Wutul and East Cooyar.<\/p>\n

Mayor Geoff McDonald said residents were being asked to evacuate to family and friends\u2019 homes in the first instance.<\/p>\n

\u201cProperties between New England Highway and East Cooyar Road, including Fitzgerald Road, Dukes Road, Saads Road and Garskes Road are in the warning area,” Mayor McDonald said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fire is expected to impact East Cooyar Road and residents are being asked to enact their bushfire survival plan and leave immediately.<\/p>\n

“QFES are telling residents to avoid driving on Dukes Road and drive with caution on the New England Highway.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo to a place away from the emergency area, with family and friends in the first instance.<\/p>\n

“If residents do not have another option, they are to head north towards Yarraman and call TRC on 13-18-72 to register.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“They will then be directed to where temporary accommodation is arranged.\u201d<\/p>\n
