Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued a smoke alert for Kingaroy and surrounding areas on Monday afternoon in relation to a large bushfire in the Gordonbrook area.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were called to the blaze, near Smiths Road and Borcherts Road, about 3:30pm.<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson said that at 5:00pm, 12 fire crews were in action however they were now basically mopping up as the spread had been contained.<\/p>\n

At one point, flames jumped a river but crews had managed to contain this breakout.<\/p>\n
